Marc J. Balcer
Marc J. Balcer is a software architect, author, and teacher who uses model-driven approaches to analyze, develop, and manage projects in subject matters as diverse as medical instrumentation, telecommunications management, financial services, and transportation logistics.
As Chief Architect of Model Compilers, Marc specializes in using model-driven approaches and service-oriented architectures to create cloud computing platforms for sharing information and integrating processes in order to create communities.
In his career, he has collaborated on agile and model-driven development projects with Steve Mellor and Sally Shlaer at Project Technology, and with Martin Fowler at ThoughtWorks. He consistently seeks out opportunities for automation in the development process, developing tools to transform information captured during requirements and analysis into executable code.
Together with Stephen J. Mellor, he is the co-author of Executable UML: A Foundation for Model-Driven Development. He has also co-authored Applied SOA: Service-Oriented Architecture and Design Strategies. He has numerous publications and conference presentations to his credit on topics ranging from project management to software testing techniques. He has developed and taught courses for Project Technology and ModelCompilers.com and has been a member of the faculty of Arcadia University.
Marc holds a BS in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary and an MS from Villanova University.
