Founded in 2002 by published methodologist Marc Balcer, Model Compilers LLC is a professional services firm that provides precise analysis, software architecture, and custom tooling that enables agile companies to transform ideas into systems.
In 2002, Stephen J. Mellor and Marc J. Balcer published Executable UML: A Foundation for Model-Driven Architecture, which extended the original Shlaer-Mellor Method to include the UML Action Semantics and the OMG's Model-Driven Architecture initiative. The Xumda Method is rooted in the Shlaer-Mellor Method and Executable UML, with a special focus on the properties of enterprise IT.
Model Compilers makes the Xumda Method available through expert training, hands-on consulting, tools, and publications.
The training courses are developed and maintained by the creators of the method and are available in public and on-site formats.
The consulting services bring our extensive experience directly to your projects, enhancing the speed and efficiency with which your team learns to apply the method. What’s in the Name?
The name xumda is simply an acronym—executable uml for model driven architecture.
We like how the name sounds—“zoom-dah!" with emphasis on the "zoom" part—the idea of speed—this is a way to get you where you want to be faster—as in, I create these models, I get my software right now.
